RICHMOND — Kelsey Rancourt had three hits, including two doubles, as the sixth-seeded Forest Hills softball team defeated No. 3 Richmond 9-7 in a Class D South quarterfinal Tuesday.
Forest Hills (8-8) will play No. 2 Buckfield or No. 7 St. Dominic in the semifinals Saturday.
Rancourt also drove in two runs. Teammates Aurelie Poulin and Natalee Smith added two hits apiece, and Janessa Moffit pitched a complete game.
Izzy Stewart, Payton Cray and Emma Valley each had two hits for Richmond (10-7), while Stewart took the loss in the circle.
OAK HILL 5, LINCOLN ACADEMY 4: Delia Custer’s two-out RBI double gave the Raiders (11-6) a 5-4 walk-off win in a Class B South preliminary-round softball game in Wales.
Sixth-seeded Oak Hill advances to face No. 3 Freeport (14-2) in the quarterfinals later this week.
The Raiders plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but the Eagles (5-12) evened the score with a three-run third inning and went ahead with a run in the fifth.
Oak Hill’s Sierra Lane singled home a run in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.
Izzy Whitaker pitched all seven innings for the Raiders. She struck out four, didn’t issue any walks and scattered five hits.
Natalie Kayler led Lincoln with three hits, while Layla Musial drove in three runs. Kaylor also pitched all 6 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and striking out two.
BASEBALL
FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1, OAK HILL 0: Jagger Helwig reached on an error in the third inning, stole second, moved to third on Alex Allain’s single and scored on a passed ball as 12th-seeded Fryeburg Academy (8-9) beat fifth-seeded Oak Hill (12-5) in a Class B South prelim at Wales.
Freeport advances to face No. 1 Greely in the quarterfinals.
Alex Allain pitched a one-hit shutout for Fryeburg Academy. He also had two hits.
