Madison Ella Mae Van Husen

MADISON – Madison Ella Mae Van Husen, 86, of Madison, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Bolster Heights Rehabilitation and nursing in Auburn.

Ella was born in Hornell, NY on June 12, 1937, a daughter of Richard and Mary Stimson. She graduated from Canisteo Central School in 1955. She went to Culvers Beauty school in Rochester, NY.

She married the love of her life, Carl Van Husen, on Sept. 28, 1957. They were married for 56 years before Carl’s passing on August 22, 2014. She and Carl moved to Jackman, Maine in 1959.

She was a homemaker and worked at the school cafeteria and then at Hannafords in Madison.

She was the most kind and giving person. There wasn’t a soul that didn’t love her.

She loved the holidays especially Christmas when she would send out hundreds of cards with hand written letters.

She was also a great cook who made the best chocolate chip cookies around.

She loved going out to eat especially at Kens restaurant. She had her own table and chair there. They all knew her and loved her.

She got covid in 2020 and spent four weeks in the hospital. The doctors didn’t think she would make it. She proved them wrong!

She was a wonderful wife and mother and grandmother and was loved by all.

She is survived by her son Lynn Carl Van Husen and his better half Sharon Creighton and Molly the bird dog.

A graveside service will be held in Forest Hill Cemetery on July 20, 2024 at 1 p.m.
