Jeanette A. Jacques
BINGHAM – Jeanette A. (Rollins) Jacques, of Bingham, passed away on June 3, 2024 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a fall requiring surgery. She was 87 years old, the second oldest of four children.
Jeanette grew up in Bingham. She graduated from Bingham High School in 1954. During high school, she met her sweetheart and future husband, Robert A. Jacques, from Skowhegan. The two were married in Bingham in December 1954, where they built their lifelong home and had five children; Robert Jr., Mark, Sheila, Jeffrey, and Andrew.
During her lifetime, Jeanette pursued many professions. At the age of 14, she enjoyed working with her friend, Patsy, at Heald Pond Sporting Camps which was run by Mrs. Ellis from Jackman. She learned bookkeeping from Langdon Quimby’s office at the mill and worked at the Federal Trust Bank of Bingham. She was the Bingham Town Clerk for 43 years. She received the State of Maine EMS Merit Award in 2000 after working as an Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-I) for UKVAS for 40 years. She was Registrar of Voters, Dedimus Justice and Town Treasurer, all while raising her five children. She was instrumental in operating their family auto parts business for 36 years, and assisted her son, Andy, and his business for 35 years.
Jeanette loved to cook, hosting holiday dinners for her family with often over 20 guests. She was a bluebird enthusiast that gave her many years of joy. She spent time swimming at the camp that she and Bobby built from the ground up. For years, there would be morning coffee meetings with her best friends Patsy and Jane, which would ring with laughter. She loved sports, and in the winter skied at Baker Mountain. In the summers, she spent time swimming and boating at camp on Embden Pond.
As their children grew, she loved to travel with her husband. She enjoyed going on cruises in the Caribbean and Mexico. She even went on a special trip to Egypt to visit her brother, Capt. Everett Rollins, Jr. and family. Jeanette and Bobby loved to spend time with their grandchildren. They enjoyed watching them play school sports, and spending time with them during the warm summers at camp. Her smile and willingness to help the community of Bingham will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Jeanette is survived by her loving husband, Robert Jacques. She is also survived by her children, Robert Jr., Mark and wife Laurie, Sheila and husband Frankie, Jeffrey and wife Mary, and Andrew and wife Beatrice; and 12 grandchildren, Alexander, Patrick, Elizabeth, Zachary, Terry, Philip, Alicia, Amanda, Kory, Kristian and Tyler. In addition to her grandchildren, she has 14 great-grandchildren, Abigail Jacques, Jackson Potvin, Cadence Marcotte, Jaxson Payson, Harper Nichols, Ginevra Nichols, Kelsie Nichols, Collin Nichols, Karissa Carrigan, Isabelle Snow, Tessa Snow, Sawyer Snow, Abraham Jacques, Eliot Jacques, Theodore Jacques, and Devilyn Jacques; her brother, Christopher Rollins; as well as many relatives, far and near.
She was predeceased by her parents Everett and Barbara (Wagner) Rollins; her siblings Capt. Everett Rollins Jr. and Reginald Rollins; and grandson, Adrian Jacques.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28 at 11 a.m., in the Robinson Cemetery, in Moscow, with a reception to follow.
