William Charles DeGuisto

GARDINER – William Charles DeGuisto, 63, passed away at Glenridge Comfort Care in Augusta on the morning of Friday June 7, 2024.

William was born on Dec. 9, 1960, in Dobbsferry, New York, to the late Charles A. DeGuisto and Patricia (Martin) DeGuisto, William’s fraternal twin brother was also born after him who was known as Charles Albert DeGuisto Jr.

Later in life William would adopt the nickname “Bill” or as his siblings called him “Billy”. Bill would develop a love for cars and driving at around age 10 when he would drive his mother around to do different errands. Bill and his family moved to Maine in his early childhood, his father purchasing a farm and store in Palmyra. Bill got his GED at Nokomis Regional High School. Fast forward 20 years and he had started working at the Maine State Prison where he would work for the next 16 years, retiring from there Nov. 26. 2016 and would even get a tattoo dedicated to the facility with the words “Never Walk Alone”. He spent the last 24 years mainly living in the Gardiner-South Gardiner area give or take a year here and there. Bill would work at the Walmart distribution center from May 2021 to May 2024, where he made many friends. Others can describe Bill as stubborn, caring, strong, humorous, kind, loving, smart mouthed, intelligent, a great father, and an overall amazing human being.

Bill was predeceased by his father Charles A. DeGuisto; his mother Patricia Martin; his older brother Joseph DeGuisto; his younger fraternal twin, Charles Albert DeGuisto, Jr. Following his death Bill leaves behind; his sons, William DeGuisto II and Anthony DeGuisto; two people he raised as his own, Scott Knox Jr and Brittany DeGuisto; a complex friend Melissa Knox; his sisters Dale Nichols and Cynthia DeGuisto Remick; several nieces and nephews; grandsons Dylan DeGuisto and Cameron DeGuisto, his friends and coworkers, two of his favorite nurses Trish and Wendy, his fur baby Brownie which was his legal name but friends and family know his given name, and finally he leaves behind his precious car.
