HALLOWELL – Geraldine Gilbert, 93, passed away peacefully at Woodlands Memory Care Center in Hallowell on Thursday, June 6, 2024, with her daughter by her side, holding her hand.
Geraldine was born in Quebec on April 3, 1931, the daughter of Almoza Paré. Geri attended Hussey Elementary School and Cony High School, where she was proud to have participated in Chizzle Wizzle Olio with a solo dance performance.
Geri was a stitcher at H.P. Hazzard Shoe Company, later became a homemaker, and eventually took care of many elderly people.
Geri loved to have fun, singing alto while playing the guitar and piano.
She was predeceased by her mother, Almoza Paré; and her husband of over 50 years, Gilles Gilbert.
She is survived by her daughters Antoinette “Toni” Brown and spouse Dervent (Bake), Liz and spouse Gene, and Debbie and spouse Mike; her grandchildren, Nate Mullens, Shawn Mullens and spouse Lee Ann, Syan and spouse Clayton, Nickey Brown, Ryan and spouse Dayla, and Daniel; her great-grandchildren, Nicole McConnell, Dean Northup Jr., Savannah Vinton-Mullens and companion Alex LaPointe, Kyle, Adrian Brown, Jayden Mullens, Arianna Brown, Nylah, Cayden, and Joel; also, cousin, Gloria Desjardin; many nephews and nieces in Canada; and her beloved dog, Heidi.
There will be no viewing. The funeral will be held on June 29 at Saint Joseph’s Church in Gardiner at 10:30 a.m., followed by committal prayers at Gracelawn in Auburn.
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodlands Memory Care Center, especially Karen Blodgett, and the Androscoggin hospice staff, including Chaplain Al.
