
John A. Seed
TOPSHAM – John A. Seed, 79, passed away at his residence on June 18, 2024. He was born in Gateshead, England, on June 29, 1944, a son of John and Mary-Ann (Wilson) Seed.
John grew up in England where he received his education. On Oct. 2, 1965, he married Particia Stiff and the two started a family. John was employed in the steel industry and in 1977, his work led him to the United States when his family moved to Maine and started a new life. He continued to work in the steel industry in Augusta until his retirement in 2009.
Following retirement, John remained busy by working as the doorman at the Maine State Senate in Augusta. John was a well dressed gentleman and a friendly face to all he encountered. A social person, he was a member of the Calumet Club in Augusta. In addition, John was a voracious reader and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
John was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia Seed; and his sister, Joyce Burgess.
He is survived by his sons, Michael J. Seed and his wife Jennifer of Gorham and Paul J. Seed and his wife Elizabeth Crawford of Gardiner; three grandchildren: Delaney, Madeline and Benjamin Seed; a sister, Mary Clark and her husband Don; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, from 3-4 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 983 Ridge Road, Windsor, ME 04363, where a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Condolences, stories, or photos may be shared by visiting http://www.plummerfh.com.
