WATERVILLE — A man and woman are scheduled to appear in court later this summer after Waterville police and agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency searched a Silver Street apartment last week, seizing cocaine base, fentanyl and a handgun, police said.

Anthony Trevor Carey Jr., 24, of New York and Kelly Goards, 41, of Waterville were arrested Thursday at 82 Silver St., Apt. 4, Waterville police Maj. Jason Longley said Tuesday in an emailed statement. Carey and Goards were each charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, illegal possession of a firearm and criminal conspiracy, he said.
“While executing the search warrant, police located 897 grams of cocaine base (crack), 152 grams of fentanyl, along with a handgun,” Longley said in the email.
Goards and Carey were arrested without incident and were unable to post bail. They were taken to Kennebec County Jail in Augusta and their initial court date is Aug. 19, according to Longley.

Asked about the value of the drugs seized, Longley said that is sometimes difficult to calculate but he estimated the value at about $50,000.
The search was the result of a monthlong investigation headed up by Waterville police Detective Chase Fabian, according to Longley.
