Dorothy “Dot” Dyer

NORTH ANSON – Dorothy “Dot” Dyer  Manzer was born July 28, 1933, the daughter of Harry Dyer and Mildred (Gould) Dyer. She lived in Highland Plantation, Lexington and North Anson growing up. She graduated from Anson Academy in 1952.

Dot married Frank Manzer in North Anson on April 3, 1954. In April they celebrated their 70th anniversary. They have lived in the house they built since 1956.

She worked at Beaver Wood Products prior to having a family and then worked seasonal work at the Embden Fish Hatchery. She did the bookkeeping for Manzer & Dolan for many years and provided home-baked dessert and a thermos of coffee every work-day for the crew. She was a fabulous cook.

She worked in the garden, canned and froze a lot of vegetables for the family.

Dot and Frank spent many winters in their motor home at River Ranch in Florida.

Dot passed away on June 21, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister Ethel Hooper; and her niece Noreen Hooper Hill. She is survived by her husband, Frank; her children, Carol Dolan and Mike, Bruce Manzer and Crystal; her grandchildren, Nicholas Manzer and Amy and Nathan Manzer and Kirsten. Also survived by great grandchildren: Vivienne and Elyse; Owen, Lauryn and Cole; and nephews, David and Scott Hooper.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside burial at the Sunset Cemetery (West side), Fahi Pond Road, North Anson on Saturday, July 13 at 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 to 4 p.m. at The American Legion Hall, 20 South Maple Street, Madison.
