DAMARISCOTTA — Chats with Champions is set to present Paul Zalucky at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, in Porter Hall of Skidompha Public Library, 184 Main St.

Zalucky will talk about Ukraine from his perspective as a 28-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency.

The Southport resident was a CIA operations officer overseas before retiring from its executive ranks. He has a unique perspective having served in Moscow, Kyiv and Warsaw. He has traveled the region extensively and is in almost daily contact with Ukrainians, assisting with its defense, security and humanitarian needs. He is also a member of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council, according to a library news release.

Zalucky entered public service and worked for the CIA beginning in 1982; he served in Moscow from 1984-86. He was involved in the operations highlighted in David Hoffman’s book “Billion Dollar Spy.”

During those years, he served in positions of increasing responsibility and management. He also served on the Subcontinent and in the Middle East. In 2002 he was promoted to the Senior Executive Service in the Central Intelligence Agency, and he retired in 2007. From 2008 to 2010 He was a Founding Partner of the Crumpton Group.
