WELD — Registration is open for the second annual Bernd Heinrich Raven Run, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20.
People can join marathoner, biologist and author Bernd Heinrich on the four-mile hilly out-and-back course, which begins at the Mt. Blue State Park Headquarters at 299 Center Hill Road and follows Center Hill Road to the Mt. Blue Trailhead intersection.
Runners return on the same mostly dirt road route and end at the field overlooking Webb Lake, according to a news release from Lise Bofinger with the Webb Lake Association.
Registration will be open online through 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, or in person the morning of the event.
The cost is $20 per person in advance or $25 the day of the event. A family discount of $15 per person in advance or $20 will be offered the day of the event. Commemorative pint glasses will be given to the first 50 registrants.
The race will kick off the association’s annual Lake Day event that has been held for over 30 years.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
