Robert Peter Buccellato

AUGUSTA – Robert Peter Buccellato, 75, passed away on July 9, 2024, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta with his family by his side.

Born Jan. 12, 1949, he was the son of Peter and Maxine (Rousseau) Buccellato. Bob grew up in Lebanon, N.H. and was a graduate of Lebanon High School class of 1967. Following school, Bob was drafted into the Army and served during the Vietnam War. He trained as an infantryman in New Jersey and Oklahoma before being sent to Vietnam. After serving, Bob returned home and shortly after met his wife. On Nov. 7, 1970, he married Brenda Lee Gagnon and the two settled in Augusta and raised their family.

Bob was a hard worker and a long-time employee of Hannaford where he ultimately retired as Manager of Customer Service. He enjoyed camping, yard work, gardening, and relaxing while watching his crime shows. As a long-term resident at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bob loved to socialize with staff and participated in as many activities as possible including being elected Resident Council President for the past year. He was a well-loved man by all and will be remembered for his outgoing personality.

Bob was recently predeceased by his wife, Brenda Buccellato on March 31, 2024. In addition, he was predeceased by his brother, Alan Buccellato.

He is survived by his children, Ray Buccellato and his wife Paula, and Melanie Meader and her husband, Rob; granddaughters, Paige Meader, Emma Buccellato, and Charlotte Buccellato.

Bob’s family extends their gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Maine Veteran’s Home for the care provided to Bob over the last several years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330. Interment will follow at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta, ME 04330 at 12 p.m. in section B.
