In your lead article on June 11 about how Republicans are collecting signatures for a referendum on requiring photo IDs to be presented when voting, no mention was made about whether they intend to make provision for those of us who have no one to drive them if this ever gets enacted (“Maine Republicans to collect signatures for 2 referendums”).
Do they intend to help us get to Augusta (or wherever) so we can get our pictures taken for the photo ID? Do they thereafter intend to help us get to our polling places? They didn’t say. Maybe they just intend to deprive us of our right to vote.
I’m for leaving things as they are, voting wise. All the people in favor of photo ID for voters have no trouble getting where they want to go.
