If you were driving on Main Street in Waterville on recent Saturday morning, just a bit north of Railroad Square, and noticed a small crowd of pro-choice activists, you might have wondered “Why there?”
Across the street, in the building formerly occupied by Elm City Photo, is the Resolve Life Center, which claims to be a “shame-free, judgment-free, go-to place for unexpected pregnancy solutions.” One of the options they claim to provide information about is abortion.
However, don’t assume you’ll get unbiased information: Their whole purpose is to talk you out of having an abortion. They provide a “limited” ultrasound, so you can see the embryo or fetus. But keep in mind that this is not a real medical establishment, so they cannot give you a real medical examination, and they are not required to keep your information private, either.
If you want to know about all your pregnancy options, there are Maine Family Planning clinics in Waterville, Augusta, and Skowhegan, where no matter what you choose to do, you’ll find support and respect.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
