AUGUSTA – Dorothy E. Mueller has peacefully passed away, surrounded by loving family members, on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta.

Dorothy was born in early Dec. of 1928 to Herman and Violet (Brick) Smith in Augusta, Wis. She grew up on a farm in the nearby town of Fairchild with two sisters, Dolores and Margaret, and one brother, Gerald. She graduated from Fairchild High School in 1946. After attending vocational school and working for a subcontractor for U. S. Rubber, in 1947 she was united in marriage to Harvey W. Mueller, a WW II, and later a Korean War, veteran. They lived for 34 years in Fairchild, Wis., where Dorothy was employed as a secretary by the Fairchild, and later Osseo-Fairchild, school system for over 20 years.

In 1981, she and Harvey retired to Ocala, Fla. The two of them really enjoyed their retirement years in Ocala, where they had many visits by friends and family. The two of them traveled often to Germany, Maine, and back to Wisconsin. After Harvey died in 2012, Dorothy decided to move to Randolph, Maine, in order to be closer to family there. In her retirement years, she really loved to knit and crochet. She was also an accomplished quilter, making many beautiful quilts by hand.

Dorothy regularly attended church all her adult life, most recently at the Water of Life Lutheran Church in Newcastle. Her faith and her walk with God were very important to her. She was also a very loving and caring person to friends and family alike.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Violet; her three sisters Rachel, Dolores and Margaret, her brother Gerald; and her husband Harvey Mueller. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Diane and husband Robert Wallenborn of Roedermark, Germany, her daughter Trish and husband Joel Higgins of Randolph, and her son Robert Mueller and his wife Linda of Gardiner. Dorothy also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, Julia, Thomas, Jesse, Jonathan, Andrew, Katherine and Emma. Great-Gramma Dorothy (GG) also left behind seven precious great-grandchildren, David, Alex, AJ, Wesley, Lera, Canaan and Addison.

Dorothy’s family would truly like to thank the ER staff and the 2 WEST staff at MaineGeneral for their kindness, exemplary care and professional support.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, there will be a Celebration of Life for Dorothy in the Water of Life Lutheran Church, found at 618 U.S. Rt 1, Newcastle, Maine, 04553.
