Shame on you, Morning Sentinel, for that headline on July 12 (“Biden flubs ‘Putin’ for ‘Zelenskyy’ at NATO summit”). How many times do we need to be told of Biden’s gaffes — is that really the big news of the day?
Biden is old. Fact. Biden makes gaffes. Fact. Biden is not a felon. Fact.
Should he have run in the first place? No.
But, if we value — and believe — in our institutions and our democracy then he should have our vote.
Consider the last three years and the record of this administration. That is what is at stake.
I applaud Sarah Sweet’s op-ed which clearly outlined the difference between Biden and Trump — it is the cabinet as well as the man whom we elect. Project 2025 will be enacted with or without Trump’s approval because it is ingrained in his future cabinet.
The bottom line: We are not only supporting Biden in his election — we are supporting democracy. Patriotism. Free speech. The rights of all individuals. The support of the environment. The right to choose. The right to object. The defense of our country, our allies, our institutions.
Solutions not isolationism and autocracy.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
