WATERVILLE — A New Hampshire man was injured in a rollover crash on Interstate 95 Monday that partially shut down the highway, police said.
The crash occurred in the left lane of northbound Interstate 95 just before 9 a.m. when Brett Richards, 34, of Deerfield, New Hampshire, inadvertently swerved his 2016 Ford F350 off the road and into the median, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss.
“Richards tried to recover from entering the median, however was unable to, ultimately rolling his (truck),” Moss said.
Richard’s truck rolled near mile marker 129, near Colby College and just before Exit 130.
Richards was the only occupant of the truck and escaped the crash with minor injuries, Moss said.
Traffic was temporarily slowed as responding crews shut down the passing lane near exit 130 to clean up the scene of the crash, according to a social media post by the Maine State Police, though the highway was fully reopened by about 10 a.m. Monday.
The crash was caused by driver inattention, Moss said, and Richards was given a citation for not wearing a seatbelt.
