“Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer” by Kamala Harris influenced all of our careers. As a district attorney, Kamala Harris’s example stood out to each of us. Watching her grow into the vital, often-difficult work of securing greater and fairer justice gave us opportunities to learn in our own roles. Her determination to address root causes of criminal conduct as a prosecutor was unique at that time, as was her willingness to try new approaches and be open to change.
As Maine’s four elected Democratic women district attorneys, we wholeheartedly endorse Vice President Kamala Harris to be our next president of the United States. A proven leader of both a district attorney’s office and a state attorney general’s office, we know she will bring those skills to lead and serve our country well at a time when they are vitally needed.
As District Attorney Harris frequently said, we too are honored to be “For The People” — of our great state of Maine. Please join us in supporting and voting for Kamala Harris for president!

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
