On July 21, historian Heather Cox Richardson identified the simple choice for 2024 presidential voters by summarizing the glaring contrast between the ethos of America’s two major political parties and their current leaders: “In a time of dictators, Trump tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election and install himself in power against the wishes of the people. President Joe Biden voluntarily turned away from reelection in order to give the people a better shot at preserving our democracy.”
