MELBOURNE, Fla. – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Charles A. Surprenant of Melbourne, Fla., on May 18, 2024.

He will forever be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laugh and love for a good debate. Chuck, as his family and friends called him, started out life born to Albert and Bernice Surprenant in Ware, Mass. He was the middle child, with two siblings.

Later in life, after starting a family of his own, he moved his young family to Maine where he and his wife Susan (who predeceased him in 2017) raised their three children. The two of them were inseparable and shared their love for each other, New England and the outdoors with their children.

Next to his family, his greatest accomplishment, of which he was very proud, was his career spanning 30-plus years in the electronics manufacturing industry. As a production manager/supervisor with companies such as Digital Equipment Corporation, SCI/Sanmina and Rockwell Collins, he was a great leader and mentor. He made a name for himself in his ability to quickly improve efficiencies, reduce cost and improve customer satisfaction levels to near or at 100-percent, time and time again.

Chuck was a hard worker, devoted father, husband and friend to many (seriously though he could make friends in any situation, even in line at the grocery store). To have known him is to love him and many still do.

He is survived by his kitty Jesse, two sons, Donnie Surprenant and his life partner Rachael, James Surprenant and his wife Chelsea and his daughter April and her husband David Panizza, as well as four four grandchildren, Delilah, Charles, Samuel and Owen. He also leaves behind his older sister Marie and husband Charlie Miller and younger brother Mark Surprenant and wife Terry, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

There will be a service in his memory at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta, on Aug. 5, 2024 at 11 a.m.
