
Joan M. MacDougal
PITTSFIELD – Joan M. MacDougal, 87, loving wife, mom, and nana, died peacefully surrounded by her family on July 24, 2024, in Pittsfield.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1937, in Pittsfield, a daughter of Leon and Pink (Farmer) Rines. She worked for several years at Northeast Shoe and the Newhouse Egg Factory.
Joan was a wonderful homemaker and loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed word searches, puzzles, and being outside. She loved getting visits from her friends from the Winnecook church.
She is survived by her two daughters: Darlene Southard and husband Todd and Carlene Winslow and husband David, all of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, Jarid Southard, Cody Southard, Sierra Lasselle and husband Cody, Jacob Winslow and Jenna Winslow; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; loving husband, Gib; siblings: Wallace Rines, Forrest Rines, Lloyd Rines, Barbara Gerry, and Charlene Sanborn; and best friend, Pat Dyer.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the caregivers and hospice team for their wonderful care and compassion.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
