WATERVILLE — A kayak float fishing trip down the Kennebec River is set for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10.
The trip is for veterans and active military, along with law enforcement and first responders.
Those interested in a one-on-one guided day of fishing on Great Moose Lake can email Paul Violette at [email protected].
Those selected should arrive at 958 West River Road in Waterville before the 8:30 a.m. start. Those with a kayak are asked to bring it; some kayaks will otherwise be available.
Participants must have a valid Maine fishing license and should bring their own personal floating vest, fishing tackle, lunch, sunscreen and hat. Light tackle and surface fishing lures work best.
The trip will take four to five hours from Waterville to Sidney; transportation will be provided back to the launch site.
Those interested in a morning of blueberry picking can also email Violette. If selected, they should arrive at Pine Grove Lodge, 823 Ridge Road, Pleasant Ridge. Participants will be contacted and coordination will be made as to the date.
Transportation will be provided from the lodge to the Blueberry Farm and return; lunch will be provided and the program will pay for the berries people pick.
