Harriett “Pat” Ann Daniels
SKOWHEGAN – Harriett “Pat” Ann Daniels, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Skowhegan on Nov. 13, 2023, with her son Jason at her side. Pat was born on Sept. 13, 1937, in New Sharon, Maine, and spent most of her life in Norridgewock, Skowhegan, Bangor, and Carmel. In her early years she worked as a factory office clerk in Norridgewock and Skowhegan. She also helped her first husband David run the family business. In her later years she enjoyed working at a quaint vintage clothing store in Brewer, Maine.
With a great sense of humor and wholesome soul, she always remained positive, even in tough times. Pat loved to laugh. She had a love for animals and enjoyed the company of many throughout her life. She enjoyed road trips with her husband to the ocean, especially Old Orchard Beach, to meet up with family and to enjoy the seafood. The ocean brought her endless happiness, and she spent several winters in Myrtle Beach with her husband. She embraced the peace and quiet of their home in Carmel, Maine, where they lived for many years. She took great pride in their homestead, the beautiful gardens, and the purple Lupine. Everyone knew how much Pat loved the color purple and her heartwarmingly goofy affection for frogs as décor.
Pat enjoyed picnics by the river with her stepdaughter Anne and she loved her monthly meet ups with her friends to play cards and catch up. Pat loved her “Red Hat Club.” Staying in touch with family and childhood friends was so important to her. She would often talk about the old days – family outings, football games and driving down the coast to Myrtle Beach. Pat had a shared fondness for horses with her late daughter, Davida. She loved to retell the story of how her oldest children brought the horse into the house one day while she and dad were gone. She had a wonderful sense of love for her family, and she embraced the fun antics of her children.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Stanley F Daniels, mother Virginia, father Harold “Hal” S. Halliday, brother Harold “Hal” whom she lovingly called “brother” and his wife Sally, as well as her oldest daughter Davida L. Reed who passed in December of 2014.
Pat is survived by her brother Terrance “Terry” Halliday, her children: son Duane and wife Carol, son Kevin and wife Kelly, son Kelly and significant other Jane, daughter Valerie and husband Lloyd, son Jason and his husband Steve, stepdaughters Paula Kany and Anne Macklin as well as her nieces, nephew, countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild born shortly before she passed.
Pat was loved by so many and is greatly missed by all. A graveside service is being planned and will be announced.
