WATERVILLE – Marie Ann Fitzgerald Varney, 90, passed away on July 26, 2024.

Marie was born in Portland to Cecile Legendre Fitzgerald and Robert James Fitzgerald on March 20,1934. She graduated from Waterville High School. After graduation, Marie joined the United States Navy as a W.A.V.E
During Marie’s working career, she worked for Colby College as a housekeeper, and worked part time for Advance 1 Cleaning Services until she was 80. Marie was a member and attended Notre Dame Church in Waterville.
Everyone who encountered Marie, will remember her as a sweet, kind, and gentle person.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Arnold Varney; twin sister Marion Harris, sister Dorothy, and brother-in-law Richard Harris.
Marie is survived by her son Charles Varney; brother Robert Fitzgerald; nieces and nephews. Audie Harris (Jeff Pomerleau), Wanda Lewis, Robert Harris, William Harris, Bonnie Blair, Sandra Jandreau, Stephen Fitzgerald, Cathy Fitzgerald, and Teresa Fitzgerald.
There will be a service on August 8, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Veilleux-Reddington-Lawry Brothers Funeral Home 8 Elm St. in Waterville.
