Marilyn Harding Levesque

ROCKLAND – Marilyn Harding Levesque, 92, passed away on July 31, 2024, in Rockland, Maine. Born on April 25, 1932, in China, Maine, to Lawrence and Gladys Harding. Her early years were spent next to China Lake with her five Harding siblings until she graduated from Erskine Academy in 1951. Oct. 6, 1951, she married her husband William Levesque. They went on to have 12 children together.

Marilyn was the center of her large and loving family. Famous for knowing by heart all of the family dates, she kept track of every birthdate, anniversary, graduation, and wedding, making it her joy to celebrate these milestones alongside her family. Her 12 children, 33 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren knew they could rely on her to remember every special occasion and to be present for each one.

Marilyn was a lifelong nurturer in both her personal and work lives. She dedicated over 25 years as a Nursing Assistant, working at Bethany Nursing Home in Albion, and other facilities in Yarmouth and Massachusetts, where she provided care and comfort to countless individuals. In retirement she was known as “Grammie Marilyn” to dozens of children at the Great Falls School in Gorham, Maine, where she volunteered as a Foster Grandparent for 10 years.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Barbara), Roger (Donna Makowski), Ronnie (Lorraine Cox), Peter (Alnetta), William (Kathy), Darrell (Diane), Arthur (Beth), Steve (Jean); daughters, Madelyn Morgan, Mary Ann and (Kingsford Aidoo), and Beatrice Lewis and sister Priscilla Gould. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband William R. Levesque Sr. and daughter Betty Willette.

A service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, at the Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church, located at 10 Pleasant Street, Waterville, Maine. This will be followed by a short service at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville. Attendees are invited to return to the Family Life Center attached to the church for time together. Marilyn’s legacy of love, care, and memory will resonate deeply within her family and all who knew her, ensuring her memory is cherished and kept alive in the hearts of many.
