DUNEDIN, Fla. – Betty D. (Dorr) Kennedy, 89, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, in Dunedin, Fla., with her daughter-in-law, Beverly, by her side. Born on March 15, 1935, in Gardiner, Maine, she was the daughter of Shirley F. Dorr and Theola (Savage) Dorr
Betty grew up in Gardiner and, after graduating from high school, moved to Washington, D.C., where she met her first husband, Leo McGann. After Leo’s death in 1980, she married Donald Kennedy in 1986, who also predeceased her in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kevin P. McGann, and her parents.
Known for her generosity, love, and kindness, Betty lived a life filled with joy and compassion. She was passionate about reading, gardening, traveling, and painting. Betty found particular joy at her cottage in Maine, a beloved retreat that provided her with peace and happiness.
Betty is survived by her children, Carol J. McGann (Rick) of Mifflinburg, Pa.; Michael F. McGann (Beverly) of Dunedin, Fla.; and Eileen E. Rossiter (William) of Spring Hill, Tenn.; her brother, Robert Dorr and his wife Jackie of Fort Huachuca, Ariz., her sister, Jane Goodwin of Richmond, Maine; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A great-great-granddaughter is expected in September of this year.
Private services will be held in her honor.. Betty’s memory and legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.
