International bestselling author Tess Gerritsen will discuss her latest novel, “The Spy Coast,” the first in a new series, at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Bailey Public Library in Winthrop. “The Spy Coast” received coveted star reviews from both Kirkus and Booklist.
Gerritsen’s novels, featuring detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles, inspired the TNT television series “Rizzoli & Isles.” Her books have been top-3 bestsellers in the United States and number one bestsellers abroad. She has won both the Nero Wolfe Award for excellence in the mystery genre, and the Rita Award – the highest award of distinction in romance fiction.
A graduate of Stanford University, Gerritsen went to medical school at the University of California, San Francisco. Now retired from medicine, she writes full time and lives in Maine.
The event, part of the fifteenth annual Winthrop Lakes Region speaker series hosted by the library, is free and open to the public. For more information call the library at 207-377-8673 or visit baileylibrary.org.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
