Mary-Ellen (Raposa) Cray

AUGUSTA – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary-Ellen Cray, 84, of Augusta. She was born on Jan. 8, 1940, in Newport, R.I., to her late parents Antone Raposa and Mary (Souza) Raposa.

Throughout her life, Mary-Ellen worked various jobs before retiring from Shop and Save. After retirement, she enjoyed camping and visiting her family in Rhode Island. She loved reading – especially tabloid magazines – listening to country western music, and watching old TV shows.

Mary-Ellen was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Gerald Cray, her brothers Manual Raposa, Charlie Raposa, and sister Evelyn Silva.

She is survived by her four children: Lisa Perkins (Gerri), Amy Perkins (Terry), Galen Perkins Jr., and Gale Mallozzi; grandchildren, Cheyenne Perkins, Jacob Perkins, Tyler Mallozzi, and Kaitlyn Atkinson; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Price, Aidan Bechard, and Everleigh Perkins; brothers Robert Raposa and Fred Raposa; sister Jessica Ferri.

Lisa would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Wang, and the nurses and staff in the Garden unit at Glenridge Long Term Care in Augusta, for their dedication and amazing personalized care of Mary-Ellen.

A committal service will be held at Maine Veterans’ Cemetery located at 143 Blue Star Avenue in Augusta on August 29, at 12 p.m.
