BELGRADE – Sharon Blair Cooper, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, died peacefully at home on Monday, August 19, 2024, at the age of 81 years.
Shari was born on Oct. 10, 1942, to Donald W. and Alma Elizabeth Blair in Sharon, Pa. and grew up in Athens, Ga. where she met the love of her life, Alan Dale Cooper. Married for 60 years at the time of Alan’s death in February of 2022, the two had three children, owned an array of tiny dogs, and lived up and down the east coast from Orlando, Fla. to Belgrade, Maine. A talented artist, Shari received her BA in Fine Arts from West Chester State College, Pennsylvania in 1982.
In 2009, Shari and Alan designed and built a one-story home in Belgrade across the street from their daughter and her family, and adorned each room with Shari’s exquisite paintings, drawings, and sculptures. She spent her days doting on her family, home, and 15-year-old Shih Tzu, Molly, reading detective novels and watching BBC, CNN and Netflix. Everywhere she went strangers remarked on her beauty, her smile, and her kindness as she always expressed love, care, and gentle humor to everyone she met.
Shari will be missed every day by her sister Faith DasGupta; her two surviving children, four grandchildren, and her new great granddaughter: daughter Crista Cooper Lavenson, husband Joel, and granddaughters Hanna Blair and Emma Lena Lavenson; son David Michael Cooper, wife Marinilda, step grandchildren Xavier and Leia, grandson Nathan Alan Cooper and great granddaughter Sophie Rose; deceased son (2015) Gregory Mark Cooper’s widow, Livia Marques and son Levon Cooper.
A memorial service will be held towards the end of October at her home in Belgrade.
