Deanna Jean (Gallant) Philbrick

HAMPDEN – Deanna Jean (Gallant) Philbrick, 77, passed away August 25, 2024, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 23, 1947, in Waterville, the daughter of Arthur Joseph and Elizabeth Lois (Lebreton) Gallant.

Deanna graduated from Lawrence High School in Fairfield, Class of 1965, and received her nursing school diploma from the Eastern Maine Medical Center School of Nursing in Bangor in 1968 and became employed there that year as a Registered Nurse.

On Sept. 7, 1968, Deanna married Lawrence Philbrick. The family moved to Lincoln in 1972 and she became employed as a Registered Nurse at the Workman Hospital and the Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln. In 1977, the family relocated to Glenburn and Deanna was employed as the School Nurse for the communities of Glenburn and Hermon for approximately 20 years before retiring when the family moved to Hampden.

In her retirement, Deanna enjoyed her hobbies of cooking, sewing, and crafting with her many friends and neighbors as well as traveling to numerous locations in the United States, Canada, Central America, and Europe. One of her favorite places was the family lodge located in the North Maine Woods at Caucomgomoc Lake where family and friends enjoyed many memorable visits in all seasons and where the family made many new friends.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, Larry, Deanna is survived by their two children, daughter Kathleen Philbrick and her companion Mark Clayton of Camden, and her son Benjamin Nautel of Roberts, Mo., and son Pete Philbrick and his wife Elizabeth of Hermon, and their two children, Nathan Philbrick and Emily Philbrick; and her sister, Karen Hamer and her husband Brian of Skowhegan. In addition to her parents, Deanna was pre-deceased by her brother, David Gallant of Clinton.

A Memorial Service for Deanna will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, 44 Kennebec Rd., Hampden, Maine with Pastor Spencer Shaw officiating. A private graveside service will be at a later date in the family plot located in the Highland Cemetery in Carmel, Maine.
