WATERVILLE — The Alzheimer’s Association seeks participants for its Kennebec Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, at Head of Falls Park on Front Street.
The event is a fundraiser that also raises awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. On walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease.
The walk takes place at seven locations across Maine during September and October. This year the Kennebec Valley Walk aims to raise $37,000.
Participants can choose to start a team, join a team, or walk as an individual. The Kennebec Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin following the Promise Garden Ceremony at 10 a.m.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
