Wayne Parlin
MADISON – Wayne Parlin, a lifelong resident of Madison, departed this life at the age of 69 on Sept. 1, 2024. He bore the physical scars of a life brimming with vigor and adventure, yet his spirit remained unbroken, even in the face of adversity. Wayne’s legacy is imbued with the richness of his humor and the countless stories he imparted, each one as cherished as the last, regardless of its familiarity.
Enduring significant hardships, Wayne’s fortitude was further exemplified in his dedicated care for his beloved mother, Shirley Parlin, during her courageous battles with cancer. His pride was deeply rooted in his sons, Travis and Troy Parlin, whose service in the military reflected the honor and strength he esteemed.
A man of the great Maine outdoors, Wayne relished the annual Memorial Weekend camping trip to Dead River with his family, a tradition steeped in the tranquility of Black Bear Brook. His earlier years were marked by a zest for dirt biking, snowmobiling, and ice fishing, pursuits that brought him great joy. In later years, despite the challenges of the cold and mobility, Wayne’s culinary skills and mechanical prowess remained undiminished as he delighted in fixing anything with an engine.
Wayne was predeceased by his father, Guy Sherwood Parlin, and his mother, Shirley Parlin; as well as his siblings, Thomas, George, Stanley, Linda, and Jim. He is survived by his sons, Travis and Troy; and his brothers, Michael, Robin, and John.
The Parlin family will hold a traditional celebration of Wayne’s life, with details to be announced at a later date. This gathering will serve as a testament to Wayne’s enduring spirit and the memories he has etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
