Jim Fossel’s Aug. 25 column, “Democratic Party not living up to its name,” is his latest effort using fake news to discredit Democrats, this time alleging the super PAC Clear Choice is a “shady” group, operating secretly “on the scale of North Korea.” In reality, Clear Choice is very transparent in its goal — to prevent “spoilers” like RFK Jr. from exerting oversized influence in the upcoming election.
Simply put, Clear Choice wants the presidential race to be a “clear choice” between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. If the PAC were so secretive, why did it work with none other than the Washington Post on a March 14 article outlining its purpose?
To Jim’s credit, he admitted conservatives worked tirelessly to do the opposite — bankrolling ultra-liberal Cornel West and others to get on some state ballots.
One may not agree with the philosophy of Clear Choice, but to attack it as under-handed, secretive, and on par with North Korea is patently unfair and untruthful.
