Dawn B. Richards
HALLOWELL – Dawn B. Richards, 86, passed away at her home at Granite Hill Estates on Sept. 15, 2024.
Dawn worked throughout the years in various positions for the State of Maine, as well as serving as the clerk for the town of Farmingdale, where she lived the majority of her life raising her family. She loved being in the outdoors, camping and gardening.
Dawn had a passion for helping others, and spent her entire life volunteering throughout the community, many years as a maker of dolls at Maine General Medical Center. She was an avid quilter, and cribbage player, and a long standing member of several organizations.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Swan of Chesterville and her husband Bill, her son, David Richards and his wife Holly of New Gloucester, and her son, Alan Richards of Wayne; four grandchildren, Mitch and Nicole Swan and Jacob and Will Richards; two great-granddaughters, Daphne Swan and Mila Thornton. Also surviving are her sister, Elaine Curnow of Florida, and brother, John Small of Iowa.
Dawn was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Sherwood Richards; her father and mother, Addison and Mildred Small; and her sister, Carolyn Kearns.
A graveside service will be held in the near future. In celebration of Dawn, please take time to show compassion towards others….. everyday!
