Both Hebrew and Christian scripture admonishes us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves, love our enemy, and welcome the stranger. Jesus taught these things. The word for “stranger” in original language from which Christian Bibles are translated also refers to immigrants and refugees.
One of our candidates for president, who has captured the support for a large segment of Christian churches, shouts support for the opposite of those teachings of Jesus. He is the antithesis of Christian values.
