WATERVILLE — Woodlands Senior Living has announced that all of its 10 locations have been accredited by the Joint Commission. Woodlands Senior Living are the first assisted living facilities in the state to earn this designation, according to a news release.
Woodlands Senior Living locations in Cape Elizabeth, Rockland, Hallowell, Waterville, Madison, Bridgton, Lewiston, Brewer and Hillside Terrace of Hallowell have all been accredited. The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval is earned by demonstrating continuous compliance with its rigorous performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality resident care, the news release stated.
Woodlands Senior Living underwent a comprehensive, multi-day onsite review throughout all 10 locations between November of 2023 and June of this year.
The Joint Commission is the preeminent accreditor of hospitals nationwide. However, very few assisted living communities choose to undergo the rigorous process of becoming accredited, and Woodlands Senior Living is the only assisted living community to accomplish it in Maine, according to the news release.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
