FAIRFIELD — The Maine State Police arrested four people early Sunday on drug charges after stopping a vehicle on U.S. Route 201 in Fairfield and recognizing the driver and passenger as those who fought last month with a state trooper in Augusta as he was trying to arrest one of them, officials said.
Just before midnight Saturday, Trooper Brandon Lambert of the Maine State Police Central Field Troop stopped a vehicle driven by Daniel Pallis, 35, of Dresden, according to an announcement Sunday from Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte, commander of the troop. Lambert reportedly stopped Pallis for inoperable tail lights
Lambert recognized Pallis and a passenger, Maria Jackson, 30, of Richmond as those who had fought with a trooper Aug. 10 in Augusta as the trooper was trying to arrest Jackson as part of a drug investigation, according to Turcotte.
After the Fairfield stop, Lambert arrested Pallis and charged him with aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs and two counts of violating conditions of release, Turcotte said.
Lambert arrested Jackson on a warrant for refusing to submit to arrest or detention and violating conditions of release, and charged her with aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs.
Police also arrested Paul Duplin, 35, of Whitefield and David Levasseur, 38, of Lisbon, who were passengers inside the vehicle, according to Turcotte.
Duplin was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, violating conditions of release and unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs.
Levasseur was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs and trafficking in prison contraband.
