GARDINER — Healthy Communities of the Capital Area is set to offer four presentations at the Maine Public Health Association Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Holiday in By the Bay in Portland. This year’s conference theme is “Innovations in Public Health.”
The conference will showcase a broad array of programs, projects, and initiatives that aim to improve individual and community health and demonstrate strategy, innovation, and creativity in addressing complex public health challenges, according to a news release.
The following will be presented by HCCA staff: “It’s Worth the Try: An Innovative Tobacco Quit Support Curriculum for LGBTQ+Youth,” presented by Special Projects Coordinator Adlin Deering and Associate Program Manager April Hughes; “Community Mattering StoryWalk: The Importance of Youth Mattering,” presented by Healthy Eating and Active Living Coordinator Sarah Young; “Public Health’s Vital Role in Creating a Culture of Healthy Aging in Maine Communities,” presented by Executive Director Renee Page with Valerie Jackson from the Maine Council on Aging; and “Leveraging Farm-to-Institution as Public Health Strategy,” presented by Food Systems Coordinator Alida Farrell.
