Ellen A. Durkee
SACO – Ellen A. Durkee, 95, formerly of School Street in South Portland, passed away on Sept. 13, 2024. She was born on March 15, 1929, a daughter of Willis and Elizabeth (Claire) Phillips. Ellen worked for the Catholic Diocese of Maine for many years where she was a social worker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Durkee.
She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth White and her husband John of Saco, Peggy Strout of Westbrook, Pamela Donaldson of Raymond, two sons, Randall Adams and his wife Pamela of Portland and Steven Durkee of Florida; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She also has one surviving sister, Beverly Irish of Winslow.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., in Augusta.
