I am writing in support of Judy Tunkle’s candidacy for state representative for House District 53 (Dresden, Pittston, Randolph and Chelsea). I have known Judy Tunkle for many years. She is not a career partisan nor is she a rigid ideologue. Rather, she is one of those rare people who sees problems and asks why they exist, and also understands that there are ways to improve our lives. She asks, why can’t we make things better?
Judy is committed not only to working hard, but also to building consensus as she works to find solutions to the problems we face. In particular, Judy understands that we must work to strengthen our infrastructure in the face of more dramatic storms. She has worked tirelessly to assure that fast and low cost internet services are available in all communities and in all of our homes.
She will seek solutions to our property tax burdens while working to lower housing costs. And, as a small-business owner herself, she will support and encourage our small business community.
I trust Judy Tunkle and I hope you will consider supporting her candidacy.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
