A 24-year-old construction worker died after being hit by a car while working in Orland on Tuesday morning.

Charles Resh, of Searsport, was flagging traffic in a construction zone on Acadia Highway when he was hit by a pickup truck driven by 70-year-old Clint Clagett, of Bucksport, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

Resh was directing traffic through lane closures because of paving when he was hit by the black 2009 Chevrolet Silverado in the closed lane, according to police. He was taken in an ambulance to Northern Lights Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, where he later died, the sheriff’s department said.

The crash will be reconstructed as authorities investigate the cause, according to the sheriff’s department.
