CONWAY, SC – Rita Jeanne (Duguay) Sanborn, born June 28, 1930, passed away peacefully with Immediate family on June 9, 2024, in Conway, SC, after a short illness.
She was born and grew up in Winslow, Maine, one of eight children, three sisters and four brothers. She was a graduate of Winslow High School class of 1948. She was primarily a homemaker but also worked at times as a secretary. Her last position was with the Boothby and Bartlett Insurance Agency in Waterville, Maine. After their retirement, She and Omar travelled a great deal visiting family around the country, and later they wintered in Myrtle Beach, SC. She loved sewing and keeping her house and yard.
She is survived by her son, Sandy Sanborn of Conway, SC; her sister, Lorraine Esty of Waterville, Maine, and her brother Reginald Duguay of Winslow, Maine; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved and adored her. She also had many friends who felt the same. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Omar E. Sanborn in 2005.
A brief memorial service will be held at the New Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta, Maine on Oct. 11, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the chapel. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at her home at noon the same day.
