Eric Malcolm Girard
AUGUSTA – Eric Malcolm Girard, 41, passed away on Sept. 23, 2024, in Augusta, in an automobile accident. Born on July 16, 1983, Eric was known for his kind, loving, and generous nature, coupled with a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit that brought joy and laughter to those around him.
Eric attended Chelsea Elementary School and Gardiner High School. He was a talented carpenter and worked in various trades, including plumbing, roofing, and construction, but his passion was carpentry.
A lover of the outdoors, Eric enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and embracing nature in various forms. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his love for his family and friends.
Eric is survived by his son, Evan Girard; mother, Betty St. Hilaire and her husband Jon; grandmother, Edith Rollins; aunt, Deb Stewart and her husband Scott; uncle, Dean Perry; uncle Ronnie Rollins and aunt Brandy Rollins; cousins Kristina Giroux, her partner Greg and their three children Jasmine, Kolby and Lilliyahna; Adam Giroux and his wife Bri; Bryant Giroux and his partner Zack; and Natasha Onofrio, her husband Justin and their two children Levi and Myra; and his best friend since childhood, Dan Lavoie.
Eric was blessed to have loved and been loved by two wonderful women, Brie Rollins, mother of his son Evan, and Sunida “Sunnie” Ratterree, a long-time girlfriend. They will both always be loved and included as members of his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Girard; grandparents Malcolm and Linda Perry and Richard Girard Sr.; aunt Rhonda Cieslak and uncles Robert Girard and Richard Girard Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Oct. 12, 2024, from noon to 4 p.m. at the American Legion, Post #40 in Winthrop, Maine. Eric’s generous spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, an education account will be set up for Eric’s son, Evan.
