Leroy Harold Merry Jr
LITCHFIELD – With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Leroy Harold Merry, Jr., affectionately known as Punk, on Sept. 29, 2024. Born in Bath, Maine on March 30, 1947, to the late Leroy Sr. and Elsye Merry.
Punk was a beacon of love, compassion, and humility to all who knew him. He was a resident of Litchfield, Maine, where he lived life to the fullest, with a loving marriage to his wife, Cindy Merry.
Punk was a talented and hardworking man, dedicating many years of his life to Bath Iron Works as a painter and electrician before retiring. His talent, however, extended far beyond his professional life. Known for his love of restoring cars, he was a regular recipient of car show awards, reflecting his skill and passion in the hobby. A man of many interests, Punk also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and driving their slingshot. Above all, Punk was a family man, placing his loved ones at the heart of his world. His compassionate spirit and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Punk was not just a man of action, but also of faith. As a member of the Kennebec Valley Assembly of God. He also regularly attended men’s bible study. His life was a testament to the scripture in Proverbs 22:1, “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” His humble life and kind heart earned him a good name and great esteem amongst his community.
Punk is survived by his wife of 42 years Cindy of Litchfield; a daughter Stephanie Mace and wife Holly of Litchfield; two grandchildren Samuel and Sophia Spencer; two brothers David Boulette and wife Brenda, and Shawn Merry; a sister Kista Flood, a son-in-law Shawn Spencer; many nieces and nephews, and extended family.
A memorial service, with military honors, for Punk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at 3:30 p.m. at the Kennebec Valley Assembly of God, located at 44 Hallowell Road, Chelsea, Maine, 04330.
