Elaine Margaret Marcue
NORRIDGEWOCK – Elaine Margaret Marcue, 81, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2024, at Woodlawn Rehabilitation. Born on Oct. 12, 1943, Elaine was known for her joyful spirit, infectious sense of humor, and her boundless care for those around her.
Elaine’s greatest passion was her family, who she cherished and protected deeply. Her home daycare nurtured numerous children for many years in Norridgewock. She always found ways to care for those she loved, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, love, and the best food. Her garden was her sanctuary, and she spent countless hours tending to her flowers and plants, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature while also fighting with the neighborhood cats to leave her beautiful songbirds, that she also loved to feed, alone. Those who knew her were constantly inspired by her dedication, individuality, and vibrant personality.
Elaine’s legacy of kindness, sardonic humor, infectious smile and love will live on in the hearts of her children, Les Marcue of Norridgewock, April (Marcue) Thurston and Scott Thurston of Hubert, N.C.; grandchildren, Scott Thurston II of Wichita, Kan., Megan (Marcue) Cohen and Tyler Cohen of Windham, Les Marcue II and Lisa Hunt of Norridgewock, Zachariah Thurston of Havelock, N.C.; great grandchildren, June Cohen and Layne Cohen; and sister and brother-in-law, Lynda Dickinson and Norman Dickinson of Fairfield; and the many friends who were blessed to know her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodlawn rehabilitation for their exceptional care.
A graveside memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset View Cemetery in Norridgewock Maine.
