Deborah L. Howard
AUGUSTA – Deborah L. Howard, 76, passed away, with family at her side, on Thursday Sept. 5, 2024.
She was born in Gardiner on March 26, 1948. Deborah graduated from high school in Dresden and furthered her education at UMA, in nursing. Deborah enjoyed her work in the mental health field.
Deborah became a traveling nurse in 1989 and through the years traveled to Vermont, Hawaii, New Mexico and California before returning to Maine to retire and be closer to family. Worked for FEMA disaster relief in Florida, Pennsylvania and Maine.
Deborah enjoyed photography and would stop to take pictures of mushrooms on the side of the road, abandoned homes and many weddings.
Deborah could light up a room with her smile. She had a kind heart and generous spirit. She was known for her generous acts of kindness and compassion. Deborah loved the holidays spending time with family. When Deborah was not lending an ear or telling a story she enjoyed reading books and doing crossword puzzles.
Deborah was predeceased by her father, Howard A. Beasley and mother, Prudence Ballard of Richmond.
She is survived by her daughters Corenna Howard and John Ribadeneyra of Colorado, Juanita Howard and Allen Burns of Sidney, son, Peter Howard and his wife Tara of Vassalboro; grandchildren Trista Howard, Kyle Poulin, Regan Berry, Leah Michaud, Nathaniel Howard, Nicholas Howard and Olivia Coto; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews; and special friend, Sharon Paradis of Augusta.
A celebration of life will be held at Arch Beta conference center, 21 Gray Birch Drive in Augusta on Oct. 6, at 1 p.m.
