LAKE WALES, Fla. – After a courageous battle with cancer, Sally Miller peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and dedicated hospice team. Her unwavering hope was always in Christ, and her heartfelt prayer was that all would come to know and love Him.
Sally was born on Jan. 29, 1948, in Ayer, Mass., to Ronald and Elnora (Stimpson) Ward. As the youngest of four children, she cherished her childhood spent in various homes, ultimately settling on a farm atop the big hill in Anson.
While attending Madison High School, Sally met Clifford Miller, whom she later married, beginning a family together. Their journey took them from Madison to Washington State, back to Guilford and Madison, and eventually to retirement in Florida. Sally embraced her love of golf, enjoying many years on the course alongside her cousins-in-law, Brenda and Elaine, as well as her many friends in Florida.
Together, Sally and Cliff raised two children, Bobbi and Travis, who blessed them with five grandchildren, Danielle, Dominic, Debbie, Kurt, and Brett. These grandchildren further enriched their lives with eight great-grandchildren, Landon, Tristan, Brody, Cormac, Gabriel, Tiernan, Eli, and Layne.
Sally treasured time spent with her extensive family and the welcoming community they found in Florida. Sally was especially close with her sisters Deanna and Linda and cherished her time with them. Laughter was the heart of every gathering, and she held a special affection for each church she attended in the various towns they called home. Throughout her early career, Sally enjoyed various roles, including running a daycare, working as a bank teller, and serving as a grocery clerk; however, her most cherished role was that of a domestic engineer, managing their home with love and dedication. In her later years she lavished her dogs Angel Grace and Peaches with motherly affection.
Sally is remembered for her deep love of family, faith, and all things sweet. She had a particular fondness for whoopie pies and cake with rich frosting, always ready to indulge in life’s delights.
She was predeceased by their daughter, Shari Lee; her parents, Ronald and Elnora Ward; her brother, Gary, and his wife, Phyllis; as well as many other beloved family members on her husband’s side.
Sally is survived by her husband, Clifford P. Miller; her children, Bobbi McCarthy and her husband, Alexie, of Rome, Maine, and Travis C. Miller of Scappoose, Ore.; three grandchildren, Danielle, Dominic, and Debbie and their families. She is also survived by her sisters, Deanna F. Curtis and Philip of Madison, and Linda J. Billing and Ken of Haines City, Fla.; her aunt June of Illinois; along with many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Sally Miller’s life and her love for Jesus will be held at Christ Community Fellowship, 43 Maple Street, Madison, ME, on Oct. 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments.
