WINTHROP — Winthrop Maine Historical Society is set to host a presentation by Jennifer Phillips at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Winthrop History and Heritage Center, 107 Main St.
Phillips is a society director whose ancestral roots have been in Winthrop since 1802. She was born and raised in Illinois before moving to Winthrop in 2019.
Phillips, a longtime admirer of the Winthrop Grange on Old Lewiston Road, aims to see the building receive the repairs it needs and to watch the membership grow again to make an impact to the residents of Winthrop and nearby communities, according to a news release from Mary Richardson with the WMHS co-chair PR committee.
Phillips’ plans to share information about Winthrop Grange #209 — its history, activities both past and present, plus share stories from those who remember days or nights spent at the Grange.
This October speaker series will be on the third Thursday instead of the usual second Thursday.
Those who opt for a Zoom option can email [email protected] to have the link emailed. The recording will be available on the society’s YouTube Channel at Winthrop Maine Historical Society.
