A harvest supper is set for 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Vassalboro United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 614 Main St.
“Baked bean suppers are our usual fare but given the time of year and the popularity of turkey dinners we are changing it up this time,” said Pastor Karen Merrill, according to a news release from the church. “In addition to turkey, gravy and dressing there will be hot veggies, salads, cranberry sauce, breads and lots of pies.”
The church recommends a donation of $10 per person.
The following Saturday, a Fall Fest will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at the church, where crafts and homemade pumpkin and apple baked goods will be for sale. During the same hours, a variety of “to go” hot soups, chili and mulled cider will be available to take home. The food items will be available to purchase by people who drop by as well as to shoppers attending the crafts and bake sale.
This is the last public supper in 2024, but soup and salad luncheons for people 50 and older will continue throughout the winter, in collaboration with the Vassalboro Community Program, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every second Wednesday. The Saturday night public suppers will resume next spring.
