Recently my mother spent just over 11 weeks at the Maine Veterans’ Homes in Augusta and I recommend it completely. The two-and-a-half-year-old building is beautiful, of course, and very well planned.
What makes the facility special, however, is the staff. The therapists, support staff and the caregivers on her unit — Liberty Island Charlie — were all very professional and caring.
As a veteran, I am very glad that the veterans of central Maine and their spouses have this resource available to them.
