I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Rep. LaRochelle for her tireless efforts to make the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) more accessible. As heating costs rise and winter approaches, many low-income people and families in Maine struggle to afford basic utilities. Raegan submitted a bill to simplify the HEAP application process. While the bill didn’t get funded, she plans to resubmit it if she is elected to the Senate. The bill will help ensure that more families can stay warm and safe without unnecessary barriers.
Rep. LaRochelle’s commitment to helping vulnerable communities is a beacon of hope. Her work directly improves the lives of those in need, and I am grateful for her leadership. Join me in voting for Raegan LaRochelle for the Maine center Nov. 5.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
